Summer in the Heartland

Freshly cut and baled hay, together with dark clear skies and warm nights, is typical of summertime in the Midwest. This picture captures the dichotomy that is typical of where I live...populated cities surrounded by sparsely inhabited farming communities. Located approximately 20 miles north of Illinois' capital city of Springfield, this field seemed like the ideal place to capture both the dark skies that can be seen in the country and the skyglow of the city.
