February in Dominica...a pod of resident spermwhales live here, including females and young, whereas bulls live alone in temperate water. But mating time is coming so do the males...this group of spermwhale has a rest. Each one stay vertical, well stabilized by spermaceti in its head. But sometimes it's hard to stay stable for a clumsy calf, who can gradually put itself horizontal before trying to stay vertical again and again. Sperwhales stay like that for several minutes (maybe 30, 40...) before needing to take a deep breath.
