In the Mojave Desert rests the Lavic Lake volcanic field which has been dormant for the last 2,000 years. Eruptions from the four neighboring cinder cones have created a petrified web of lava tubes. The light desert sand which has preserved the volcanic rock also provides a striking contrast to the charcoal color which extends deep into the desert.
