Potrait of a juvenile shikra

The shikra is a small bird of pray found in Asia and Africa. It is found throughout India. It has a characteristic flight where it flaps it wings in quick succession and then glides for a short distance. It is smaller in size compared to the brahmany kite, another widely distributed bird of pray in India.
