Popocatépetl Sunrise

In the Mexican legend of Popocatépetl and Iztaccíhuatl, Popocatépetl was a fierce warrior in deeply in love with the princess, Iztacíhuatl. Her father, the king, sent Popocatépetl to battle, but promised he could take his daughter's hand in marriage upon his return, provided he bring back the head of the enemy. Long after Popocatépetl was sent to battle, a suitor of the princess told her that her lover had died in battle. Devastated, she died of sadness. Popocatépetl returned from battle, and upon hearing about his lover's death, he died of sadness as well. They were immortalized as volcanoes.
