On Top of the World
Don’t be fooled by its adorable appearance, a tiny bird called the Loggerhead Shrike is known to be a ruthless killer. The small bird preys on mice, anoles, lizards, and other birds, and it impales its catch on the nearest spike before tearing into it.
Shrikes will kill even when they aren’t hungry, and will imitate the songs of other birds, much like the mockingbird, to lure in their victims.
