Northern Flicker Woodpecker cleans out Maple Tree squirrel home

This image was made after seeing a Northern Flicker Woodpecker cleaning out the former home of a squirrel family next door to my residence in the Detroit suburb of Ecorse. It must have taken about half and hour to clean out the former squirrel nest and this female was being shadowed by another baby female who would signal when any danger approached. They both had to defend the nest only once during the cleaning out process.
