16th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
North Vancouver, Canada is home to some ecceptional rain forests, as you can see here the lush moss of the forest floor. These woods are a very suggestive location and a place of quiet and peace for me. The true magic is when that morning fog rolls in during winter. Time is of the essence to capture these "fingers of god" as the day warms up. The stump in the middle of the frame gave the image a strong anchor, and almost seems like an alter, allowing for an additional spiritual feel.
