13th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
The higher temps in April have developed a pattern of earlier Sunflower blooms. Blooms that are also much smaller. This bud is no bigger than the tip of my thumb. It is also being crowded by a second bud (from the same stalk) about the size of the tip of my pinky~ I took this photograph as an assignment for the National Geographic Your Shot community. The assignment asked the community to show the effects of climate change in their area.
