Lunar halo, Pennsylvania
A nearly full moon surrounded by a halo sets in the pre-dawn sky near Shippensburg, PA.
The optical phenomena is formed by moonlight refracting through hexagonal ice crystals high in the atmosphere resulting in a circle with a radius of approximately 22 degrees.
