Love In The Antarctic: Two Giant Penguins On South Georgia Island
This photo of two mating penguins on South Georgia Island was taken on our cruise of the Antarctic for our 25th wedding anniversary and epitomizes what a sustainable travel project is and should look like. Thousands of penguins, elephant and fur season, along with hundreds of birds and other species were coexisting in a pristine environment, unaffected by our human glimpse into their world. The cruise was very small, with numbers limited and strict environmental guidelines followed to ensure protection of the wildlife and the continent of Antarctica. The photo was taken with a few dozen people commingling among all this wildlife as we were completely ignored or embraced by the species around us. It was the most amazing experience I have ever had.
