Killer Whale Attacks a Gray Whale Calf

An adult male orca smashes into a gray whale calf. We were witness to a killer whale predation of a gray whale calf on Monterey Bay. This battle lasted four gut-wrenching hours and was very hard to watch. As hard as it was to see, it was fascinating to see the strategies employed by the killer whales to separate the calf from its mother, batter and eventually drown the calf.
