These great spangled fritillaries were enjoying black raspberries in Freeburg, Pennsylvania. The raspberries were growing in forest alongside farmland, in the place I played as a child. We ran wild through those woods with fritillaries as our constant companions. Black raspberries were summer treats for both children and wildlife.
