Just as the sun was setting on a beautiful day in Alaska, this female brown bear emerged from the woods with her two cubs. It was time to catch some fish, and I had a good idea of where she was heading. There was a high bank she would often walk down and fish from a ledge that overlooked the water. Everything aligned, and she ended up at the spot a few minutes later. The light was perfect to compose the rim lit I had always imagined in my head. This sow was the perfect subject because she has a gorgeous blonde winter coat.
