Death Sea

A decrepit chair rests next to the Salton Sea, which was once an oasis in Southern California’s Imperial Valley. Formed in the early 1900s, the sea became a popular tourist destination. However, later, an inflow of agricultural runoff and no outflow of water transformed the sea into a cesspool.
