Davenport Steamboat Landing in the Ocala National Forest
This steamboat landing was once part of the Hart Line a profitable business run by Hubbard Hart on the Ocklawaha River. Part of the river has been ruined by the Rodman Dam, part of a project begun by the Army Corp of Engineers and cancelled by Richard Nixon. Since then, environmentalists and politicians have called for the removal of the Rodman Dam to no avail, although the fate of the river and surrounding springs are threatened by it.
