Cemented Freedom

The sun haven't come out in New York for a few days. It was foggy in the mornings and gloomy in the evenings. I had been cooped up at home, depressed and thinking about my life: how I haven't accomplished any of my goals yet, all the debt I still had to pay off, being single and almost 27 while all my friends were getting engaged. I decided to take a walk to clear my head and I saw these birds, circling around a characterless apartment building. Somehow, seeing those birds gave me hope. Even on your worst day, the world around us is beautiful. No matter how many ugly buildings new york builds for profit, natural beauty still shines through. I felt at that moment I'd like to free like those birds, instead of trapped in a box of my own making.
