Caught in the Moonlit City Sky
I embarked upon a conservation effort in Los Angeles, within the cluttered city commotion and during a 4 year drought. With the idea of keeping our pollinators nourished, I devoted a small area of garden to feeders, nesting, and water options. This image is one of the steadily increasing types of hummingbirds who have found a quiet and dependable refuge in my apartment's small Hummingbird Haven. Even as I write this the roar of lawn mowers, and consistent hammering and demolition noise from construction consumes the area and yet the hummingbirds zip in and out seemingly unaffected.
She smiles at the moon and rushes to obtain her fill of food one last time before hunkering down for the night.
