Bluebutton in Miami, FL

The Bluebutton is a siphonophore, closely-related to the Portuguese Man-o-war. Usually floating far offshore in the ocean, hard winds can push these creatures close to the beach. I found this beautiful little dime-sized creature floating by a dock in Miami, Florida.
