A bison once again stands amid the tall grass where its ancestors once roamed

A bison herd once again inhabits the area now designated as Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve, a public/private partnership managed by the National Park Service that provides 11,000 acres of tall grassland for a herd of 2,600 to roam as once 35 to 60 million bison did in the 1500s.
