Behind the Curtain

As I was hiking in Acadia National Park, I noticed this fly's shadow on a leaf amongst deer lichen. I knelt down to take the picture. Exactly at the same time, a mosquito landed next to the fly and bit it. The mosquito might have separated from the cloud of its comrades I brought with me.
