Basecamp in the Condoriri Valley

Our expedition acclimatized to the high elevation of the Bolivian Andes first, by travelling the Inca Valley in Peru, and then by trekking and ice climbing (first ascents) in the Condoriri Valley, before climbing Huayna Potosi and Ilimani. Located about 50 miles outside of La Paz, the lowest portions of the valley are at 15,000 feet above sea level, with climbs reaching to over 17,000 feet. All of the glaciers in the valley are receding, likely, at least in part, as a result of global warming.
