14th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
Autumn is a beautiful time of year. Minimalist photography has always captured my interest, because there is something beautiful about having one single subject in a photograph. This shot was taken on a crisp autumn day on the bank of a trout stream. The leaves were falling from the trees in a graceful dance through the air. This leaf happened to land in front of me on the water, so I snapped several shots. This was my favorite of the series due to the ripple at the top of the image that suggests a fish below the surface.
