This is the White Mountain Apache Reservation. I stood atop a rock outcropping, shooting the dawn, and thought about the indigenous people that have lived on this rugged, beautiful land for millennia. As the river snaked toward the dawn light I thought about who else may have stood here and contemplated the passage of time, like the river, flowing onward. The river symbolized the passage of time moving through this ancient land.
