A young rhino bull and his mother

The white rhinos in the Waterberg Wilderness Reserve, Namibia, are used to getting visitors and can relatively safely be encountered on foot. It is an amazing and humbling experience to share the same ground as these powerful animals and spend some time with them while they're grazing. The young bull was still a bit shy and occasionally launched a brief mock charges towards us, that he aborted after a meter or so to return to the safety of his mother.
