A long-awaited glimpse of the sun
This was taken in the Alaskan backcountry, in the Kantishna Hills of Denali Park. It had poured rain nonstop for 2 days straight, so finally when the weather cleared, I set out for a strenuous hike, hoping to actually see my surroundings for the first time. It was 10pm, but the sun sets late in the short Alaskan summer. About an hour into the hike, the clouds finally parted, giving me a beautiful glimpse of what I'd been missing. I'm so glad I chose late night hiking instead of sleep!
