A brilliantly camouflaged praying mantis is poised upon a southern long-leaf pine tree in my Fairhope, Alabama, front yard. I had not seen a brown adorned mantis before so I grabbed my camera to get a shoot. The afternoon sun was perfect as it gave a glowing red cast to the image.
