14th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
A black-and-white warbler retrieved in power line clearing in Patuxent, Maryland.

This bird was captured in a mist net below a power line clearing, in a song bird habitat purposefully preserved by a power company. A man is holding this bird in order to take body measurements and attach a band to the birds ankle as part of a long-term monitoring study.
