50 Million Year old Mosquito Embedded in Amber

Amber, formed by ancient deposits of pine sap, frequently has "inclusions" of plants, insects, and even larger animals such as frogs. This specimen, on display at the Amber Museum in Gdansk, Poland, entrapped a mosquito about 50 million years ago.
