17th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest
Valletta, the capital of Malta, is a revelation of 16th century baroque architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is only 0.8 square kilometers in size and can get quite congested during peak tourist season. Pictured is one of the quieter streets located in the heart of the city, not far from the historic St John's Co-Cathedral.
