Poolscape I (pano)

A typical summertime scene as a Mom, her son and their dog relax by the pool on a hot afternoon. As the observer approaches the right side of the image, however, the dog appears once more, albeit just a half of her. What is going on here? How can the dog be in 2 places at once? How did the dog get from the one side of the pool to the other in the same frame? Is the dog a mirage caused by the heat of the day?
