Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, Egypt

Queen Hatshepsut ruled Egypt during the New Kingdom. Many likenesses of Hatshepsut were destroyed after her death, making her mortuary temple at Deir el-Bahari one of the most spectacular places to witness the impact of her reign. Hatshepsut dressed as a man, and the color red, which represents power, is detectable in paint on a number of her statues in the temple.
