14th Annual Smithsonian Magazine Photo Contest
On my trip to meet my fiancee in Indiana, I got stuck at JFK airport for 20 hours after missing my flight. I stepped outside late at night and looked over my shoulder, the bustling airport that, just hours ago was filled with hundreds of languages and accents and sounds and tears, was now silent except for the cleaning man and my footsteps.
