In the northeast,one knows the time of the pussywillow is the time of those first breaths of spring air. These pussywillows (Salix discolor) had been taken inside, their furry catkins now turning hard. The catkins are no longer soft and fuzzy but the light here shows them still strong and symbolic of spring
