14th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
I spent a day at Oxford photographing daily life at the University. Radcliffe Camera is a historic library on campus and I wanted to get a portrait of it's architectural personality. Oxford is a city of bicycles and I liked how they were lined up against the railing. But the main focus of the photo, for me, was the way the spire on the Radcliffe Camera building seemed to burst the cloud cover like a needle on a balloon. The blue sky formed an elephant shaped halo over the historic library.
