13th Annual Smithsonian.com Photo Contest
Nature is all around us if we care to notice its beauty. It doesn't matter whether the tree is new or old, they equally contribute to the beauty of nature. Regardless of their age at the time, trees of all generations shed their leaves in Autumn, in solidarity with one another, maybe. This shot is from a relatively young tree that isn't quite so old as some of the other trees that I have come across in DC. I found it in an area surrounded by buildings but you wouldn't be able to say that looking at this shot because the tree and the sky behind make it look as if there was nothing else around it.
