A Barcelona city worker power-washing a wall, removing street art
I took a stroll through an economically struggling region in Barcelona currently undergoing gentrification. This moment brought to light the existence of cultural gentrification within a region as local artistic expressions are being washed away for the purpose of order and cleanliness. While it may be a potentially economically progressive action aimed at increasing tourists and local value, it serves as symbol of the impending death of local culture.
