Unknown Soldier at Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery

This photo captures the sacrifice of American soldiers fighting overseas during the World Wars. This particular cemetery, located in Belgium houses just under 8,000 deceased U.S. military members from WWII. This particular grave marks the spot of an unknown soldier; many of the deceased were never identified and as the stone says, are "known but to God". Although not taken in the US, this photo shows the love of soldiers for a country to which they were never able to return home.
