Troy and Elena aboard their boat.
Troy and Helena are members of the Russian Old Believer community. Old Believers separated from Russian Orthodox Church in 1666 as a protest against reforms. In the early 1900 many fled to China to escape communism, then to Brazil after the Chinese Revolution. Desire to find a remote place to live and practice their religious ways brought them to the farthest north state. Many Old Believers are in commercial fishing industry.
