The Other Side of Flint, Michigan
I've been travelling and performing with the 2nd National Tour of Once for most of this year. We recently stopped in Flint, Michigan, and let me tell you, many of us were rather apprehensive about performing there. You can imagine our surprise when we walked into this beautiful theatre, which, if I'm being honest, has been one of my favorite theatres on this tour. The audiences were wonderful, and the house was full every night we were there. I was reminded to never judge someone, or someplace, by the narrative I've heard about it. Flint is still struggling in regards to it's water problems, but it is also still full of wonderful, intelligent, cultured people who support the arts.
