Tahoe Keys

Built in 1960 at an elevation of 6,240 feet, Tahoe Keys is a community of 1,500 homes adjacent to Lake Tahoe. Its construction destroyed half of the Upper Truckee Marsh, the primary filter for river water entering the lake. The Tahoe Keys due to poor planning have a large population of non-native plants and fish in Lake Tahoe. In recent years the weeds have gotten worse and they are now proposing the use of herbicides in Lake Tahoe to stop them. Aerial image (photographed from a plane).
