Slave Quarters at Evergreen Plantation

The Evergreen Plantation is known for being one of the most complete or intact plantation complexes in the South. This plantation has 22 cabins. 11 cabins on each side. The dichotomy of existence is evident here. The storm held off for most of our tour, but by this point it was a very wet day as the picture reveals. I was pretty miserable and I had the comforts of an umbrella, dry clothes and shoes that could get wet. As I was leaving, I turned back to take this picture.. I can only imagine all the pain, suffering and discomforts the slaves that lived in these cabins over the years must have endured. #blacklivesmatter because they have never mattered
