Respect Nature, Anaktuvuk Pass

With 12 hours left to burn in Alaska before heading home to Singapore in January 2015, I booked a ticket from Fairbanks to Anaktuvuk Pass on a whim. I knew no one, but a local and his sister immediately offered to guide me for free when I landed. I spent the morning exploring the village, whose very existence is a testament to the hardiness and ingenuity of the Inupiat. I remain in touch with my guide to this day.
