Oil Slick on the Gowanus Canal.
An oil slick on the Gowanus Canal. This site was designated a superfund site in 2009. There have been many efforts to cleanup the canal, yet pollution and contamination run rampant throughout this waterway. This photo was taken during a canoe trip to learn the canal's history and experience the contamination first hand. Sometimes man-made destruction can take on organic forms.
