New Mexico Prairie Windmill

Traveling south on New Mexico 117 and just outside El Malpais Natural Conservation Area was this isolated windmill in the vast expanse of prairie and sky, and mesas on the horizon. For me, the photo captures the wide open spaces of the American West and human adaptation to an arid environment.
