Colorado River

The Colorado River breathes life into a narrow strip along its banks as it meanders through the arid canyons of Arizona. The river was originally named for the reddish colour of its waters but this is now a misnomer, as the upstream Glen Canyon Dam filters sediment, leaving the water a turquoise-green colour.
