"Chuncho" (Glaucidium nanum)

This is a little owl of Strigidae Family, wich inhabits the velds of Argentina and Chile, from Atacama desert to Tierra del Fuego, at the southernmost part of the American continent. “El chuncho” has diurnal habits and hides itself into the vegetation while it waits for its preys – birds, insects, mammals and reptiles. It is a greedy hunter. It mates between September and November, and makes its nests in tree holes, laying from 3 to 5 eggs.
