Chasing warbirds: C-47 “Skytrain” followed by two SNJ-5 “Pilot Makers” over the horseshoe bend of the Ohio River
Preparing for the air support of the 1943 Sicily Invasion Reenactment on the Ohio River, Evansville IN of June 27, 2015. The C-47 “Skytrain” was used to transport paratroopers, supplies, officers and brass during WWII. The SNJ-5/AT-6 “Pilot Makers” were the WWII advanced trainers, which fighter and bomber pilots received their wings before transitioning to their respective aircraft for combat.
