Barn Quilts

Driving past quintessential American homesteads in rural Appalachia, you can see decorations on many farm buildings, such as these 'quilts'. Barn quilts are perhaps a more recent phenomenon, but they harken back to the earliest traditions Americans have used to brighten their lives.
