The photograph shows one of the most significant respite areas for migratory birds on the West Coast. However, the lake is diminished by a thirsty Los Angeles, while human commercial materialism appears to take pride and place above the drastic and striking Sierra Nevada. In America, breathtaking beauty comes hand in hand with breathtaking consumption.
